A llama is part of the camel family - but it does not have a hump!
Llamas are herd animals that live in social groups with a dominant male and a harem of females.
The herd is led by the alpha male, who does not necessarily have to be the strongest llama, but the male who, in case of danger, retains his composure and thus ensures safety for the other animals in the herd.
Today it is still used as a transport animal in South America, but not to the same extent as in the past.
