Horned owls are found throughout Europe and eastward through large parts of Asia to the Pacific Ocean, and down to northern Africa. It is Europe's largest owl weighing 2-4 kilograms.
The owl can see in light that is about 100 times weaker than what humans use to orient themselves with. It feeds on small mammals and birds. The owl has soft feathers which are provided with an edge of fine fringes, which makes it almost silent when hunting.
Most children are fascinated by animals, and very curious to hear more about them.
